Ok so I know that they are basicly the same gun aside from the fact that they have differant length barrels. my question is how much more accurate should I expect a M16 to be over an M4 carbine?
I have been eyeballing the ICS M16 and range is important to me. I see a lot more people fielding M4's though.
What are average distances at Nam field? Long enough to substantiate the need for that little bit more accuracy? I already have a 614 and its ok but I don't think its a good representation of what its accuracy can be since the inner barrel is shimmed at the barrel tip with a peice of paper to keep it from being loose and I don't think there are any barrel spacers in it.
Its not exactly a top line gun even if it dose shoot 430 FPS or so. Guess I'll have to crack open the gearbox and swap that spring to play with it. That Peq2 box is really stupid too. _________________ current gun Echo 1 614 |

M4 is more convenient for me, m16 is just a bit too long.
Average engagement, I've been side by side in bushes with enemy's, or seen ant size people in my 4x20. Very big playing field. _________________

key for range is having an efficient seal and having an excellent working hop up...if an MP5 that shoots 430 FPS with this....it will shoot as far as a 430 FPS M16 that also has an efficient seal and excellent hop...
bottom line, if you can have a gun built so its compression and hop kicks ass...then get whichever model you like...they will shoot the same provided that the setup's FPS output given the conditions are the same _________________

the M16 IF IF you do the rite upgrades to it will have more range than a M4 but if you do the M4 mod with the silencer you can insert a longer barrel its what every one prefers i guess range and accuracy usually comes with a good hop unit and a good TB barrel _________________ "1 shot 1 kill"

think about it....
similar gearbox
similar hop up unit
similar FPS...
if its hop that gets you range, why should an M16 shoot farther than an M4 given that the FPS output is the same?
more backspin? no. if you put more backspin, the BB will curve up.
ultimately, the max FPS that everyone can have shooting full auto is 400. _________________

HA.
You can compensate for a gun that doesn't shoot great. You can't do the same for a gun that doesn't operate. _________________ Get off my plane. |

Well, I suppose you could start throwing the BB's out of your magazine. But who would call that hit? _________________ Get off my plane. |

there are no rules about having to and not having to call hit from BBs thrown... _________________

I have seen this happen...
Bordicon charged at someone with his 74U....his mag stops feeding so he takes it out on the run and chucks it towards the guy... _________________

Thats pretty funny. It reminded me of a couple of summers ago when me and a few friends where playing airsoft on some private land.My friend was hiding behind a bunker and I was in the process of rushing him when I found my mag was empty.Instead of reloading or pulling out my GBB I rushed him and ended up just tackling him.All in all made me laugh and was a time that I will never forget. |

haha he didn't take your words, Snoopy said the Barrel length doesn't really matter, and you said that it did.
and just like he said, In Actuality barrel length doesn't make that much of a difference. The Hop/Bucking/Seal is what actually has a greater affect on accuracy.
PS: Bordicons move was amazing. _________________

well in my vsr its a proven fact tested by me that the accuracy is better with a longer barrel............. it also depends what diameter the inner barrel has, and who makes it...... thats from my experiance though some people might have different opinions and facts about this type of subject..... _________________ "1 shot 1 kill"

anyone know where there might be a guide on barrel length and its effects on accuracy? I understand the the max range may not me effected but If I can turn a 4' spread at max range into a 2' spread that would help.
what is the max effective range for a well setup AEG near 400 FPS? Still around 150? or can I get 200 out of it? _________________ current gun Echo 1 614 |

I resorted in getting .25's instead of a longer barrel and using .20's.

from what I have been reading the barrel length dosn't make all that much differance and the hop up and fps consistancy are more important than an extra 80mm of barrel.
right now I am actualy looking at a King arms FAL carbine maybe because I like to be differant _________________ current gun Echo 1 614 |

odd
i vividly recall my first sacair game (which snoopy/buckles ran) in which they said no bang kills with an empty pistol... I thnk if someon took their mag out their gun and hcucked bb's i'd call it a parlay or nothing.. props granted but your pants are down (aka your mag is out you're out of ammo this is no paintball hopper) |

Wraith,
Shawn and Bordin and a lot of us have been friends for a long time. Doing silly sh*t beyond the scope of normal kill rules is perfectly acceptable from time to time. Same reason I tackled mike 9mm from behind at a game and we called it as a kill.
Let it go. _________________ Get off my plane. |

An extra 80mm or 8cm's worth of inner barrel does a lot for AEG's like MP5's and G36C's. The problem with having inner barrels extend out is that it is not well supported and the tip of the inner barrel vibrates.
aka sniper has a lot to try out. His statements in terms of his experiences lean on one side...
michaeld chipped in another useful info with regard to getting better accuracy/precision...heavier weight BB's are a definite plus... _________________
