I'm new to airsoft and have been looking at different guns to buy. I've got it narrowed down to a KWA KM4 (I'm pretty sure that is what I'll get) after doing some research online. But my concern is with the fps being over 350, are there a lot of CQB games that would require <350 fps? I don't want to be out of games just because my gun is too hot, unless the CQB games are infrequent enough. And if there is a lot of CQB games any suggestions on which guns I should look into. I plan on being at the game on the 24th so I can introduce myself to everyone.

For Sacair games and most games in the Sac area the FPS limit is 400.

some of the factory km4's shoot over 400 even... It is a simple spring swap to lower fps if needed

you guys want a big fps game? im sure you dont, i have guys that i play with, that tune rifles for 460 minimum. our engagement distance is near nothing i think we put a 5 ft cap min. on it Wink

why do you want all that fps? 450 is a bit too much for most guns and require more than just putting a spring in a rifle.

if you are new, then play with it stock. you want a real challenge grab a rifle and have it DOWNgraded to about 300fps then play. shows how much of 400+ fps is retarded in a small environment when no one likes to move, or play 400+ FPS in a cqb environment =p (its kinda fun till you get hit, trust me you get hit, fast, and a ton of BBs)

its not about leaving a mark its about honor, that comment i cannot fathom the idea of how...ill leave it blank so no one will QQ....

let me know if you want to play with real players, but you better bring your A game, check you shit attitudes at the door - there is zero tolerance at these games - and hope that no will leave a mark, MUAHAHA.

what is the fascination with people wanting to upgrade to retarded amounts of FPS...its not about range, its not about its gonna leave a mark, its cause one reason, people no longer know how to play airsoft and have fun. and yes i have a aeg taht can shoot over 450, and i have a rifle that shoots more than 500....guess what fps i play with at most fields....355 LOL 7yr old system m100 spring w00t! (along with 6 year old internals that still amazingly work)

well I may be a noob to airsoft but I have learned to play many games that require equipment, and airsoft is no different. People think that having a gun shoot 450fps is the fastest way to be better, never mind actually taking the time to learn to be skilled at airsoft.

I run a replica that fires at 300fps and uses a 7 inch inner. And I fared fine.

It is like cars. Doesn't matter if you have a fast car, if you don't know how to drive it, you'll do as well as the guy in his mom's minivan.

I have used toy guns that ran at 350 to 400 and really didn't impact how much fun I had. Just leave it within that range with .25 and your good.

dun get .2 get .25. More mass means more momentum but not more velocity. Heavier the bb the further it will travel up until the point of diminishing returns. There was a great article comparing different weights and .25 always out performed .2 unfortunately they did not test heavier bbs.

It would be pretty easy since finding the ideal weight would only take log(n) time instead of linear since the weight is monotomically increasing.
