PostPosted: Mon Jul 24, 2006 11:04 pm    Post subject: For People Posting up "FACTS" Reply with quote

Please don't clog up posts with "facts" that can not be backed up.

Lately I have been seeing garbage being posted up by people who think they know what they are talking about or people who insist that their opinion is the correct one when, in fact they, are dead wrong.
Most of these people are new to the community and have a tendency to argue with established members who have been around for a long time, and who have the proper facts and knowledge.

Let me fill you in on a few things that will make your experience here at Sacair very pleasant:

Use the SEARCH feature, it will save you lots of time and will answer questions.

If you don't know what you are talking about, then don't post.

If you have never cracked open a gearbox, didisassembled gun, etc then don't give out technical info.

If you think you can play in public places, schools, areas near freeways, or in places where you can be readily seen by the general public- please leave and don't tell us what you are doing. Better yet-
STOP and THINK it out. You know- Cause and Effect.
"If I do something what are the consequences". There will be alot of people who will be pissed off at you if you ban our beloved hobby.
And dont use the reasoning "I have been doing this and havent been caught by the cops, so it must be ok"

The reason, I am posting this is because Sacair has always been a association that tries to give out accurate info and to educate new members. Why? because if wrong info is given out, then negative consequences can occur, such as having your gun crap out on you beyond repair. Or you could up end up buying something that is inferior, and that will crap out on you sooner than you want it to. A favorite line that I read was, "UTG is the same as TM, but at a lower price". That really takes the cake.

And if any of the following people below say something, you should really listen up and not argue, and take their advice when it comes to technical stuff:
Anyone with "Admin" under their name like

Ray
Snoopy
Cain
Neouser
Sardonic
Mike
Etc..

Especially Viper, Airsoftbum, Andrew. You may ask why these three??? Because they work at AEX fixing broken guns, and upgrading them EVERYDAY.
I find it very funny when people try to argue with them.

There are so many other trustworthy people on this website that I can name but it would take me forever.
And finally- Stan where the heck are you. We need the infamous BS filter to crack down on.... all the BS. Andrew is doing a pretty good job, but he could use the backup Laughing

This is not to discourage new people from posting up on the forums. If you have an honest question, then post up. There are nice people that are willing to help you out. But PLEASE use the Search feature first before you ask. Chances are you will find the answer.

I heart you so very much right now. I'll try to help a lil more. But the attitude stays where needed. End of story. Cool

Another fantastic forum I frequent has a moto and general rule: "Bring the tech." Basically, if you dont know what you are talking about from either personal experience or just plain solid facts: "Suck it."

StingyStan is busy being ghey in frisco riding bicycles and playing tennis. Keep on Keepin on!

I was the UTG is the same as TM but lower priced. My bad. I was new and trying to sound like a smartypants because I was reading the FAQ part of what is the best gun and it said TM AND CA so I was like oh cool I have a CA. I told my friend this (Funkydel) and hes like yayayaay my gun is like the same thing as TM but half the price so this means mine is one of the best too! So when I saw these arguments I thought I was mister smartypants. Sorry everyone! Just wanted to clear that up, Thanks.

It takes a big person to admit they were wrong. I wasnt bashing on ya, just using your comments as an example. I understand that you are new and enthusiastic, and that you are trying to learn all that you can about this sport. The best way to learn is to come to a game and see what people have, how their equipment performs and ask questions. Like I said before, most people are very firendly and are willing to help out a new person out Very Happy.

well this is a forum , and there is a private seller section , so you can't get mad at people for selling their stuff , i have rarely seen reviews and discussions on this site , but then again i have only been a member for a short period of time....

so basically your like:

"Here is my advice...blahblah......But I've only been on here a short while"

I think this is almost exactly what needs to be stopped.

If your going to end your post with something like the following

"But I've never owned one"
"But I am not really sure"
"But I have only been here a short while"
"But that's what I heard"
"But that's what i read online"
"But that's what people say"
"But ANYTHING"

then chances are, you should not even worry about posting to begin with. It needs to stop, there are members who have been on here for less than a year with 1000+ post counts.

Toky0 you been on here since June and have half of my posts. I've been on here since 2003. Don't your fingers get tired?

Although I think most of the newbies are kids who are just eager to discuss their (newfound) hobby, the amount of postage by noobs is getting sortof out of hand... if you really don't have anything significant to say to add to a discussion, DON'T SAY ANYTHING. Being noticed for a whole lot of posting (useless nonsense) as a newbie generally is the fastest way to get flamed.

Airsofter58 -- you have like 80 posts and you joined...2 days ago? If I go through and look at your archive of posts, how many are going to have a significance to the topic you posted in? I'm not trying to be a hard-ass jerk or anything, I'm just sortof tired of people posting stuff that really doesn't need to be said (not to mention it's that time of the month Wink ). It seems like you have a whole lot of questions about SacAir and airsoft in general...maybe you should make a thread that is a giant compilation of all the questions pertaining to airsoft. When I first joined SacAor, that's what I did.

Although now that I think of it, I dont call them for every little thing. It just helps when your gearbox is in pieces and you cant wait for someone to reply to a post. Sorry if I sent some extra flak your way guys.

Louis has a very good point and it really does need to be understood by us all.

The technical aspects of airsoft equipment is really just like any other hobby that requires the user to maintain, repair or upgarde his/her equipment in order to maintain the hobby...etc...etc. The hobby itself requires the person to constantly learn. There really is never a time when a person learns and knows everything there is to be known, becasue things change every day and there are alsways new things to figure out, new products to buy, new and better made parts to install and so on......the learning never ends! This is one of hte things that is so great about the hobby of airsoft in particular. It is definitely a different hobby and one that is very exciting. Many people actually use the hobby to keep themselves up to par with their occupation. Believe it or not....it provides training, exercise and tactical awareness for those who like to take it to the "next level"

As far as people posting about the technical aspects about airsoft equipment, I'm on eof those people who knows a little about the basics of what is needed to keep the equipment in good working order, but I am definitely not a guru when it comes to all the different upgardes and high specs about each and very airsoft gun..etc. I Can work miracles on a car or other things that don't have anything to do with airsoft, but when oit comes to technical repairs and taking apart an airsoft rifle..etc, I really don't have the time for it and don't find it "fun" to do the repairs and mods myslef, so, for me, taking it to Ron, Andrew or any of the other guys at AEX is a sound way for me to get things done, without the hassle.

Our team (A XII) is dedicated to the inner workings of tactics, team movement, comm's and completing primary objectives with unusual and unconventional tactics and ideas. We're more oriented toward success with tactics and team comm's and objective completion at events, then we are with working on our guns....LOL! Our airsoft weapons..etc go to 2-3 of the team members for some of the upgrades and repirs..etc and sometimes they go to AEX, instead. Personaly, I think it's great that people have an interest in repairing these things, but I, myself, am not interested in doing all of the work. The work that I feel comfortable with, I do on my own...especially if it is going to be used in a sparticular scenario where the gear needs to look the part and needs changes to make it blend in with the environment.

Fun to our team is completing a mission and making it as authentic as possibel witth the gear we currently have or with new gear we intend on buying as the team grows. So far we have more than we expected and our enthusiasm for team training and creating interesting scenarios has increased, due to the team atmosphere and enthusiasm!

C.

This is awsome, i was starting to think that the fact that lots of people were being stupid with airsoft guns just made people angry during those little stories on here. But it is good to know that it is on peoples minds even after the posts on Sac Air. If airsoft gets banned I am going to be one very very unhappy person, not just because i cant play anymore also becasue i will then have 2 $500 paper weights sitting in my house.
